The Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain (MOCGB) was founded in 1979 when two Mustang owners met at Santa Pod during a RWYB (Run What You Brung) event. They arranged to meet again at the King’s Head in Essex, forming the 1969–70 Owners Club. Later that summer, the decision was made to open the club to owners of all Mustang model years, and the MOCGB was born.
The club is run entirely by volunteers and is open to anyone with an interest in Mustangs – you don’t even need to own one. Many members join long before buying their first car.
Local area secretaries organise monthly meetings, giving members the opportunity to meet up, discuss the latest modifications, or simply share plans for their cars. Our latest area secretary, Alex Fearn, has recently established the Channel Islands Region for the club and officially launched the first meeting on April 17, coinciding with National Mustang Day.
National Mustang Day is celebrated once a year, when Mustang enthusiasts around the world take to the roads together. The date marks the Mustang’s birth, first revealed to the public at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964.
We hold a national show where cars are judged across various categories, covering every generation of Mustang from 1964½ to the latest models. The club currently has around 2,500 paid members, alongside a large and active social media following. Our forum is also very busy, providing advice and support on technical issues and all aspects of Mustang ownership.
The club is a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC), reflecting our belief that all historic vehicles deserve a place on the road.
