In 1990, a handful of stock car drivers sat down at their headquarters’ table and talked about American cars, cars they had, in fact, roared through the gravel for years on the Luxembourg stock car scene. They reminisced about the good old days and truly regretted having scrapped numerous rare bodies, especially Mustangs, most of which were discarded after a single race. Sometimes only the engine, transmission, and rear axle were removed, and the entire body went to the junkyard.
From that moment on, that would change. Since it’s never too late to do something right, they decided that in the future they would no longer abandon beautiful, sporty Mustangs; they wanted to restore them.
And so, the foundation was laid for a club under the name:
“Vintage Mustang Club Of Luxembourg”.
In the meantime, the club opened itself up all Mustang owners, not only vintage cars because the vintage Mustangs of tomorrow are the new ones of today and thus the name remained unchanged.
We count 147 active members owning one or more Mustangs and many of them join one or more outrides which the club organizes each year.
Our grand event every year is the INTERNATIONAL MUSTANG MEETING MONDORF. Mondorf being the club’s picturesque hometown.
1994 the VMCL board decided to launch an International Meeting which was held at Goodyear testing grounds to celebrate the 30th Mustang anniversary. Since then, we have had 11 meetings which became a huge success, the largest event in our greater region. It consists of vehicle exhibitions, food village, stage entertainment and merchandise village.
We have participants from Belgium, Germany, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy and our furthest Mustang came from Norway.
2024 we counted 543 Mustangs and last year, 2025 we were at an amazing 560 !
Furthermore, the VMCL maintains social activities such as a continuous supporting partnership with “Fondation Lëtzeburger Kannerduerf” as well as providing Mustang tours for disabled persons.
